Movie - Automatic Project Conversion in Clarion 7

One of my favorite features of the new Clarion 7 Project System is the Automatic Project Conversion Import.

Beginning with any project file, the Project System will detect any project references within that file and give you the opportunity to import those additional projects all at once. A single solution can now store as many projects as you need, and one multi-Dll application can now be built in the IDE with a single click. Movie - Getting to know your IDE - Part I: Layouts, Help, and Pads

The key word in this blog title is YOUR. This is now YOUR Integrated Development Environment. The new IDE is more extensible and configurable than any other Clarion product in history.

I have been using the IDE for quite a while now, and the more I use it, the more I enjoy programming again. I actually look forward to creating great applications, and this is the tool that I will be using for many years to come.

This movie introduces a few of the basic setup and navigation techniques in the Clarion 7 IDE. We start with a look at layouts and pads. We also take a peek at the new HTML based help system, and other help resources that are available. We complete Part I of this series with a look at the docking, floating and pinning techniques inherent to all pads, with some secret shortcuts that you will enjoy.

Movie - Using the New Clarion 7 Project System

Hello everyone!

Well, it's been about a week since Clarion 7 has been released to all Core Subscription Program subscribers, and the buzz has been great! We have a lot more coming to you in a very short time, and as always we thank you for your patience.

The Clarion Beta newsgroup is going strong now, and we also want to thank all of you who have contributed comments and suggestions regarding the new IDE, and we are actively underway to implementing many of your ideas.

One common thread on the Beta newsgroup was a discussion of the new Project System. I have produced a 12-minute movie here that provides a detailed overview of the new Project System. I have also included some common shortcuts and tips that I have learned in using this system over the past few months.

Welcome to our new blog area that is dedicated to showcasing movies and tutorials to help you get comfortable quickly with the new Clarion 7 (and coming soon, the Clarion.NET) development environment.

Our first movie in this blog is a brief movie that shows you how to work with the new Visual Styles in Clarion 7. There are three key application areas where you can customize your application using the new Visual Styles:

XP and Vista Menu Styles
Tabbed MDI Windows
Four new SHEET/TAB Styles

You have lots of choices in how you want your application to look, and it couldn't be easier to get started. More important, this movie also shows you how to work between the Clarion 6 application generator environment and the Clarion 7 IDE. We will show you how easy it is to make a change in the Clarion 6 application, re-generate the code, and immediately see that change in the Clarion 7 version of your program.
