Clarion # marketing disaster

Clarion's never been marketed well but this is first time I can recall that actual damage has been perpetrated.
To rename Clarion.Net to Clarion # would be a disaster.
1. The name Clarion.Net has been out there for 2 or more years.
2. The .Net suffix sends a very clear message to millions of VS.Net users that Clarion is in their space.
3. The .Net suffix was going to finally give us the acceptance in our target market that I for one have been looking for for 20 years.
4. The # suffix says just as clearly that this is a geeky language which is impenetrable to all but a few fanatics. It is going to be widely ignored.
5. As a ClarioNet user I have no difficulty at all differentiating between ClarioNet and Clarion.Net. The difference can be explained in a few words (the first is a Windows thin client and the second is a development system).
Please please please rethink this catastrophic decision!

I think SV have made up their minds, but for what it's worth, I agree with you.

Hi!
I think Clarion#.NET is a good compromise to all concerned.

I'm not sure if I'm confused by Bob's latest blog but toward the end it seems he was calling the IDE Clarion.NET and the .NET version of the Clarion language Clarion#. If this be the case I see it as a possitive as the language may not interest many C#/VB.NET etc. users (at first anyway) but a solid set of templates for generating these languages might just cause the inital hook to get them looking at Clarion.NET (the IDE).
A little clarity may help aleviate your concerns.....or not :)

I thought as you did till I talked with Bob Foreman...
NO, they are not renaming the entire suite of "things" that are Clarion.Net to be Clarion#. Rather they are just changing the name of the Clarion language to Clarion# when it's running in a .Net environment.
So, the name, Clarion.Net lives for the entire environment. Within that environment is the Clarion# language...
